In case you missed it, a principal from an award-winning school was allegedly involved in a case of sexual grooming a male student.
While the Johor Education Department is still in the process of investigating this case, it has been announced today (12 January) that the principal had been removed from his school. This piece of news was announced by the Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching, and she mentioned that schools should be a safe space for students.
The reason to remove the principal was to ensure that he does not disturb the victim or the other students while the investigations are going on. In the meantime, he is currently placed at a district education office.
“I would like to emphasise here that the Ministry of Education (MOE) took the allegations seriously and we must make sure that schools are a safe place for our children.”
Other than that, she also urged the people who have the information about this case and other possible cases to come forward immediately to lodge a report. The ministry does not want any cover-ups, demanding truth for such a horrible case. Up until today, the victim has yet to lodge a report, and Teo said if the principal is found guilty, the ministry would take disciplinary and legal actions.
“The information I received last weekend, there was none (police report). I hope the victim will lodge a police report.”
According to The Star, besides the sexual grooming case, the principal is also allegedly involved in sending obscene messages to students, which had apparently gone viral on social media.
We hope that the victim would have the courage to show up and make a police report if this really happened.
