Take note, drivers! If you have changed your home address recently, you better update your driving license with the new address on it as soon as possible. This comes after the Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued a press statement reminding all drivers and vehicle owners to make the necessary changes. Don’t wait too long!

According to the statement, this criteria was actually stated in Section 58A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Bet you didn’t realise that! JPJ says that based on this, any vehicle owner and anyone who has a driving license will need to update their address within two months after they have changed residences.
If you fail to change your address, you can be guilty of an offence since your address will be considered incomplete and incorrect. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to change your address, because it’s really quite simple. Plus, it’s also free to do!
Here’s how:
- Proceed to any JPJ branch around Malaysia. Their outlets are listed here
- Go to any Urban Transformation Centres (UTC). You can find them here
- Do it online through mySIKAP, a portal linked to JPJ

JPJ says that if you decide to change your address online, you don’t have to go to their physical branches, which is more convenient. Hence, they encourage the public to create an account on mySIKAP so that everyone can handle all their JPJ affairs easily online.
