The Road Transport Department (JPJ) said they will start implementing Ops Sedar nationwide starting today, 24 November. This is to monitor vehicle owners who failed to have their motor vehicle coverage renewed.

As reported by Astro AWANI, the Director-General of JPJ, Datuk Zailani Hashim, said monitoring and enforcement actions through roadblocks (SJR) will be made in selected locations.

“Road users who do not have insurance coverage will cause inconvenience to the vehicle owners themselves in the event of an accident while using their vehicles on the road,” he said.

He added that if road users who do not have motor vehicle insurance coverage will be detained at these roadblocks, and action will be taken under Section 90 (2) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and if convicted can be fined not more than RM1,000 and license can be suspended for 12 months.

Zailani also said during the implementation of Ops Sedar that his party had provided the Mobile JPJ facility for the purpose of renewing the Motor Vehicle License (LKM) and Malaysian Driving License (LLM) directly.
