The National Registration Department (JPN) has announced that it’s offering free replacement services of identification documents to flood victims who lost or had their documents damaged.

In a statement, JPN said this free replacement service applies to MyKad, birth and death certificates, marriage certificates (civil), citizenship certificates, and other official documents.

“Vehicles will be deployed to the affected areas”

JPN also said that MEKAR buses, vans, and four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles will be sent to affected areas to help people apply for replacement identification documents.

“We hope this effort will make it easier for flood victims to manage their official documents,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution added that JPN will deploy mobile replacement services to these areas as soon as safe routes are available, so help can reach those in need without adding to their current difficulties.

“As we’ve done before, JPN will make sure flood victims can get replacement personal identification documents if theirs were lost or damaged in the disaster.”

Saifuddin also assured that the Home Ministry and related agencies will assist Malaysians with their personal documents, especially those affected by challenges such as the recent major floods.

“In any disaster, I want to remind everyone affected to put their own safety and that of their families first.

“God willing, the MADANI Government will always be there to support the people, particularly during tough times, making sure all forms of assistance are provided quickly, efficiently, and with the well-being of the community in mind,” he said.
