If you watched Discovery channel’s “Mythbusters” while growing up, you’d recognise the familiar face of Grant Imahara. The electrical engineer and former host of the famous show has sadly passed away at the young age of 49.

“We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” said a spokesperson from Discovery Channel in a statement recorded by Variety.
Imahara passed away on Monday (13th July) following a sudden brain aneurysm. Further details about his passing have yet to be provided at the time.
Imahara was a host on Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters” until 2014.
Aside from being an electrical engineer and TV host, Imahara was also a roboticist in training. He joined the “Mythbusters” team in its third season when he replaced Scottie Chapman as host but later left the show after 2014, as said by the Hollywood Reporter. He reunited with “Mythbusters” co-hosts, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci in 2016 to film a one-season series on Netflix known as the “White Rabbit Project,”.

Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage expressed his grief and condolences online when he tweeted, “I’m at loss. No words. I’ve been part of two big families with Grant Imahara over the last 22 years. Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON. Working with Grant was so much fun. I’ll miss my friend.”
Imahara was known for using his experience to make robots and other electronics to test out myths on the hit show.
