JUST IN: Ismail Sabri Announces Pay Hike, Allowance & Other Benefits For Civil Servants

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, has announced a number of new enhanced benefits for government employees. This set of announcements, according to Sin Chew Daily, were made at the 18th Civil Service Premier Gathering (MAPPA XVIII).

According to the Prime Minister, this new package of perks would apply to government employees in Grades 11 through 56 and is expected to cost RM1.5 billion.

The new benefits that were announced earlier today includes:

  • Annual pay raise for those in Grade 11 was previously set at RM80. In 2023, they will be eligible to receive an additional allowance of RM100, on top of their annual pay raise, making it a total of RM180. 
  • A special one-off RM700 financial aid will be provided for Grades 56 and below.
  • Government retirees and veterans WITHOUT pension will receive RM350 cash aid each that would be paid out in January.
  • Civil servants will be able to cash in up to 180 unused annual leaves as compared to previously when it was set at 160 days.
  • Public school teachers that has served over 10 years will be receiving an additional 5 days of special leave, bring their total special leaves to 15 days.
  • Unrecorded leaves for civil servants have also been expanded to include the loss of grandparents and siblings. It was previously set for the lost of parents, child/ren, in-law and spouse.
