It just keeps spreading. Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) has just confirmed five newly infected coronavirus patients in Malaysia, bringing the total number of infections up to 55.

“All five cases were in close contact with the second strand of covid-19 occurrences that are transmitted by proximity. These cases are also all linked to the carrier of the 26th recorded case in Malaysia,” said KKM via their Facebook page at around 5:45pm on 5th March.

But this isn’t the first time the case 26 was responsible for spreading the deadly virus. So far, the Ministry of Health reported that 21 cases have been linked to case 26, UDA Holdings Bhd board member, Hisham Hamdan who was diagnosed with Covid-19 on 27th February. His case has been classified as a cluster case.

Of the 21 cases, 16 were close contacts of case 26 while the other five cases were second-generation infections. Currently, case 26 is responsible for a whooping total of 26 infected people in Malaysia.

As of right now, 22 patients have been cured of the viral outbreak while the remaining 33 are still being treated respectively. Out of this total, only two cases of covid-19 patients are non-Malaysian citizens.
