And we’re back with today’s episode of I don’t understand Malaysians!
Six individuals were arrested yesterday (26th March) in Kota Tinggi, Johor for gathering outdoors to celebrate a birthday party.
According to Buletin TV3’s Facebook page, PDRM Kota Tinggi arrested the bunch of 20-year-olds (3 male, 3 females) for breaching the MCO. At around 5.30pm, the group gathered at Laman Tun Sri Lanang, Jalan Niaga, Kota Tinggi to have a birthday celebration.
I mean, that’s no big deal. It’s only a BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OUTDOORS AMIDST A PANDEMIC. What’s the worse that could happen?
Kota Tinggi Superintendent Ashmon Bajah stated that the group was arrested when the Covid-19 Task Force of Kota Tinggi (PDRM and ATMs) made their operation rounds. Along with charging the teens, they also manage to confiscate a portable speaker that the group was planning to use for music during the supposed celebration.
“The case is being investigated under Rule 7 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Steps in the Infectious Diseases Local Area 2020) and under Section 186 of the Penal Code for preventing civil servants from doing their jobs as well as disregarding PDRM officers and ATMs. The team is also working hard to track the one male from the group who escaped before being investigated”, said the Superintendent.
