This chicken rice uncle was just trying to be kind-hearted and make a small donation of RM5 but unfortunately, he got scammed out of RM1,200 by two men. The incident happened at Kota Bharu at Westlake Eating House on Thursday (September 26th) around 11.30am.

According to China Press, the victim, Liu Dingcai, is a 73-year-old man who owns a chicken rice stall and he lodged a police report after the incident at around 12.22pm the same day. The victim said he was selling chicken rice when two men approached him to ask for donations to build a temple in the area.
One of them was holding a religious figurine in his hands while asking for donations, and being kind-hearted, Liu decided to donate RM5 and took it out to put in the donation box. “I put the money in then one of them asked me to bow to the figurine while another touched my head and said this is a blessing, then he asked me to wash my hands,” Liu remembers.

After washing his hands, one of the men asked him for a piece of paper so Liu handed it to him. Then, when Liu was taking out his wallet, the man told Liu to put the piece of paper inside. Liu said he felt dizzy and confused at that time and just followed their orders.
However, he didn’t notice anything wrong until one customer came up to order chicken rice and he had to take out money from his wallet to give change to the customer. Liu was shocked to find that his wallet was almost empty as he had many pieces of RM50 inside.

He quickly counted the money left in his wallet and discovered that he had lost RM1,200 when the two men had asked for donations. Unfortunately, the men had already left when Liu found out that his money had somehow been stolen by them when he took out his wallet. The public is advised to be vigilant and be alert at all times so that they will not fall under the spell of such scammers and lose their money.
Be careful, guys! These scammers will stop at nothing to cheat your money!
