The Klang Valley has transitioned into Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) since 18 October and it has been 10 days since interstate travel was allowed nationwide since 11 October.

However, there has been an increase in hospital admissions due to Covid-19 in the Klang Valley and Sarawak in the last seven days.

Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin shared in a Twitter post a screenshot of data from the CovidNow website where it shows a 22% increase in hospital admission rates in the Klang Valley and a 16% increase in Sarawak.

He said that these trends are leading signs for the Ministry of Health (KKM) to note and added that the ministry will ramp up its analysis and surveillance.

Additionally, Selangor showed a 23% increase in hospital admissions, a 12% increase in Kuala Lumpur and a 5% increase in Putrajaya.

As of 21 October, Malaysia recorded 6,210 new Covid-19 cases nationwide.

Meanwhile, the infectivity rate recorded nationwide on 20 October stands at 0.86, which means that one infected person can spread the virus to 0.86 other people. Selangor’s infectivity rate stands at 0.95 and Kuala Lumpur at 1.0.
