Malaysia will be shortening the dosing interval for AstraZeneca vaccine recipients to nine weeks instead of 12 weeks.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, took to Twitter to reveal the official decision.
He explained that this was the recommendation made to the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) by its technical working group.
“Based on the recommendation from our Technical Working Group and with greater clarity of the delivery schedule, JKJAVMY has decided to shorten the dosing interval for AZ from 12 to nine weeks,” he wrote in his Tweet.
He added that those who participated in the first round of AZ will be notified of their second appointment soon.
