The Ministry of Health has detected a new cluster of Covid-19 which originated from an individual with a travel history to Italy. This was confirmed by our Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his daily press conference yesterday.

The patient is identified as case number 1,580.

According to The Star, from that cluster, about 37 people tested Covid-19 positive and there were five related deaths (cases 1,031; 1,032; 1,006; 2,850 and 2,210), and one critical case in the intensive care unit.

The cluster also has infections up to third generations. Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah urged the public to be honest if they’ve had any close contact with any Covid-19 patients or if they’ve travelled to any affected countries. He clarified that withholding this information would be extremely unwise and you will just be furthering the damage.

“This ‘imported case’ might cause the third wave of infections in the country. Hence, anyone returning from overseas during the MCO will be placed in quarantine centres.”

The Health-director general added that a case such as the “tabligh cluster” should be avoided. The gathering in Sri Petaling had caused some 50 per cent total cases in Malaysia and half the total deaths. As of yesterday, Malaysia had an addition of 179 new cases which brings the total number of cases to 3,662. Four more deaths were also recorded bringing up the total death to 61.

Please, please be honest with your doctors IF you’ve had any close contact or any travel history. This is no time to be selfish or afraid. The responsibility of battling this outbreak rests on our shoulders as well.
