While many people have made jokes about how Gardenia bread is a commodity among Malaysians given how many supermarkets have run out of stock, that joke apparently holds more truth than you imagine! In an unlikely incident that happened yesterday (30th March 2020), it has been reported by China Press that thieves had apparently stolen an entire Gardenia bread truck!
The crime was allegedly reported over social media by an employee of the much-beloved bread company over social media, asking for the help of the public to keep an eye out for the stolen truck. It was said that the bread truck was making deliveries to 15 different stores when it was allegedly stolen by thieves.
Gardenia was said to have lodged a report to the police over the matter, but what was truly most confounding was the fact that barely after a day, the stolen bread truck was found all the way in the town of Kijal in Terengganu, parked outside a mosque.
Stranger still, was the fact that all the bread in the truck was untouched!
Which begs the question as to why the bread truck was even stolen in the first place, if none of the bread was missing!
Update: Gardenia Bakeries KL (GBKL) has since released a statement saying that the driver of the lorry is safe, and the lorry itself as well as its merchandise are currently in possession of the police. As per their internal procedures, the stolen truck will be cleaned and sanitised, while all merchandise in the truck will be disposed.
What do you guys think of this entire incident?
