A Malaysian woman in Klang had to walk over 2 KM to meet his husband, who was detained by the police for illegal racing.

The operation to catch illegal racers (rempit) involved more than 100 officers and personnel from the South Klang District Police Headquarters (IPD), the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), and the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ).

At around 2:30 AM today (July 13), many riders started to gather on the road for an illegal race before many of them were caught by the authorities, including the man who had to call his wife and tell her about the matter.

The woman, who is only married to the man for a few months, said that she had to rush out of her house in the Pandamaran area after receiving a phone call from her husband informing her that he had been arrested by the authorities.

She had to walk over 2 KM to the scene as she did not have another motorcycle.

The woman, who is in her 20s, said that she had advised her husband many times about not getting into the illegal race, but to no avail. Her husband ignored her advice.

During the raid, many other illegal racers were willing to risk their lives by speeding against the traffic flow to evade the authorities. In the operation, a 17-year-old male was also arrested after being believed to have committed various dangerous acts on the road.

He said that he quietly took his father’s motorcycle to participate in the illegal race.

South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, said the integrated operation was carried out as a result of intelligence gathered by his department over the past three weeks. He said that a total of 128 summonses were issued for various offences during the operation, including expired road taxes and underage riders, reported Sinar Harian.
