After a few years of hiatus, Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) Aerotrain services were relaunched on July 1. The train services became temporarily unavailable again today (July 4), less than a week after the relaunch.

The matter initially went viral via a Facebook post today by Places and Food. The suspended service and the disruption in the schedule were also discussed on Reddit. In another Facebook post, it was also claimed that the train allegedly went through a service disruption on July 2, in which netizens hinted at a possible sabotage.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), on the other hand, has denied all claims about the train services breaking down.

According to MAHB, the service was only temporarily suspended at 11 AM today as heavy rainfall had caused water to accumulate in the tunnel.

Responding to the alleged schedule disruption, MAHB also stated that the transportation of passengers to the airport’s satellite terminal was uninterrupted thanks to the shuttle bus services.

The train operations were suspended until the water was manually cleared and the tracks were confirmed safe for use.

“Service resumed at 12.15pm once full clearance was obtained from the technical and safety teams. We are also rectifying the pump system to ensure optimal performance during future weather events.” MAHB said.

MAHB also thanked visitors for their patience and cooperation as they upgrade the new system, according to New Straits Times.

The new aerotrain set consists of three carriages and can carry up to 270 passengers.
