KTMB officers will now be patrolling public areas with newly equipped temperature scanning helmets that will allow them to detect the body temperatures of citizens wherever they go.

In a series of photos posted by KTMB, the officers can be seen decked out in their new tech gear while roaming trains, stations, and platforms with these tools attached to them. The post explained that was launched as KTMB’s latest initiative to curb the spread of the virus.

“KTMB recently took a step forward by introducing a temperature scanner helmet to curb the Covid-19 outbreak. This initiative joins the existing measures of readying temperature scanners and hand sanitisers in stations, as well as the frequent sanitisation of trains. With the use of this helmet, the assisting police officers who patrol public transportation premises will be able to detect the body temperatures of commuters efficiently using this sophisticated tool,” said the statement on their Facebook page.

The statement added that this measure was taken to increase the confidence of passengers who use KTMB services daily for essential travel. “The use of this helmet is still on trial and applies to all assisting patrolling officers.”

Hopefully, this helps lower the risk of getting infected for those who are obligated to use public transport services during the CMCO. Stay safe, guys!
