Frequent KTM users may need to wait longer and plan their journey following the updates in the train schedules, which see a reduced frequency.

Based on KTM’s latest schedule for the Pelabuhan Klang – KL Sentral – Pelabuhan Klang line, the frequency has been reduced to every 30 minutes during peak hours, and 60 minutes during non-peak hours.

These massive changes are due to ongoing track works under the Klang Valley Electrified Double Track Phase 2 project.

For the Port Klang to KL Sentral route, the trains will operate at a 30-minute frequency during peak hours on weekday mornings, starting at 6:03 AM and ending at 8:33 AM.

The Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke recently said in a media conference that based on the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS), the highest number of passengers was recorded in the morning heading towards Kuala Lumpur while the highest number of passengers recorded from KL Sentral heading back to Port Klang was in the evening.

He explained that during off-peak hours – from 10 AM to 4PM, project work can continue efficiently and safely for six hours daily.

There are free bus services available

In case you are not aware, 22 FREE buses have been available since last Friday (January 17) between key stations, namely:

  • Subang Jaya
  • Batu Tiga
  • Shah Alam
  • Padang Jawa
  • Bukit Badak
  • Teluk Gadong
  • Pelabuhan Klang

You can refer to KTMB’s Facebook post below to identify the routes. Do keep in mind that the free buses operate daily from 7 AM to 11 PM, and the frequency is every 30 minutes, subject to change depending on traffic conditions.

As for those travelling between Abdullah Hukum and Subang Jaya KTM stations, Anthony said passengers can use the existing bus services provided and the Kelana Jaya LRT line, where the interchange stations are available at KTM Abdullah Hukum and KTM Subang Jaya.

In the meantime, you can visit KTMB’s official website to keep track of the timetable and changes, if any. According to a report by the New Straits Times, van services will be provided at Bukit Badak and Teluk Gadong stations due to low passenger numbers.

We hope the upgrading work will bring major convenience to public transport users in the future.
