KTMB recently had another delay in its schedule, causing commuters to wait for up to 3 hours.

One of the affected train users, Benjamin (pseudonym), recently told WORLD OF BUZZ that he waited a good 2 hours and 50 minutes before the train finally moved.

Unfortunately, the delay happened during peak hours when many were getting off work, and as for Benjamin and others who were affected at the KL Sentral station, they had to wait for nearly 3 hours.

“It caused a massive delay not just for us but for others who were waiting at other stations. The train was supposed to depart at 6PM, but it only moved at 8:50 pm.”

Benjamin also told WORLD OF BUZZ that during the long wait, passengers were given a bottle of water and peanuts as a token of apology.

“There was no compensation.”

KTMB responds

In an official statement by the train operator, the massive delay that took place on April 21 was caused by the disturbance in the signalling system. The disturbance caused a delay of 150 minutes, delaying 8 KTM Commuter Services and 4 ETS services.

The affected lines were,

  • KTM between Kepong to Simpang Batu station (intersection between Segambut and Sentul)
  • KL Sentral to Simpang Pelabuhan Klang (Intersection between Mid Valley and Abdullah Hukum)

The incident caused a disturbance in the train control system, which was operated automatically. As a safety measure, KTMB’s technical team activated a manual operation procedure, in which the train moved at a slower speed, which caused a major delay.

KTMB also apologised for the massive delay.

Were you affected by the delay?
