A 7-tier waterfall situated at the Segari Melintang Forest Reserve in Perak was annihilated by logging and mining activities approved by the state government.

To see just how quarrying, laterite mining, and deforestation activities have decimated the area, Hamidah Osman took to social media sharing the photos she took of the area.

“Feast your eyes on what the destruction logging and quarry work has done to this waterfall.”

The issue of logging, mining and quarrying in the area have long been fought by environmentatlists and locals in the area.

Back in 2017, environmentalist group Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) said that quarrying activites in the area did not comply with the recommendations made at the 70th National Land Council meeting in 2014.

According to netizens commenting on the post, the issue has long been fought by locals, but have fallen on deaf ears.

By the looks of things, so long as the activities continue, we can do nothing but say goodbye to nature’s beauty and be made to live with the consequences that follow the greed of human beings.
