New drivers in Malaysia are required by law to display the ‘P’ licence sticker on the windscreen of their cars to notify to other drivers that they are undergoing a two-year probationary period.

Although new licence holders in Malaysia probably dream of the day they are finally able to get the sticker off their vehicles, it seems that elsewhere, people are paying money to get it on their cars!

According to China Press, back in October 2021, some sellers on China’s largest e-commerce platform Taobao began to sell the P-sticker.

According to one seller, an average of 56 pieces are being sold per month for 28.99 yuan (RM19.30). Although Malaysians may think that the price is unreasonable, it appears that Chinese consumers do not mind it.

When someone asked about the purpose of purchasing the Malaysian P-sticker, users said that it was merely used to decorate their cars as they felt that it was cool and stylish.

It is not cost-effective, but the feelings give me a rush!! Feelings are priceless,” commented one buyer who gave their review on the sticker.

The review section is filled with people happily showing off their cars along with the bright red sticker.
