Going to a wedding is not just about bonding with your relatives and friends but also an opportunity to enjoy the food that you probably don’t prepare that often at home.
The food is served to everyone and guests can eat as much as they can, but does it grant them the right to tapau the food, regardless of how good they taste? On the TikTok post of @wan_takaful, a Malaysian man shared some details about what happened during a wedding in Seremban recently – a Mak Cik who wanted to tapau some of the food, and she was ready with 2 containers that she brought from home.
It was only 10:30am, and the wedding had barely started.
In another video posted on his TikTok account, Wan explained what exactly happened and why he was there. Wan was invited as a photographer/videographer for the akad nikah ceremony. Around 10:30am, the food for the guests was not served yet but Wan asked permission from the catering to take pictures of the food.
That was when he saw the Mak Cik with the containers, ready to take away some food. The caterer politely declined the Mak Cik’s request, saying that they couldn’t do so because the event was just about to begin but she insisted.
“The hosts have paid for the food and they did not say anything. Why can’t I just take away 2 packs of food?” she slammed the containers on the table.
Did the Mak Cik eventually get her extra share of food? Unfortunately, Wan told WORLD OF BUZZ that he did not know as he left the scene.
“I don’t mean to insult her by sharing this clip but I’m just wondering, it’s already 2023. Is this culture of taking away food from wedding still happening?”
