Malaysia has recently been recognised as the second-best country in Asia for achieving a healthy work-life balance, coming in just behind Singapore. According to the Global Life-Work Balance Index by Remote, Malaysia scored 57.03 out of 100.

This score was based on factors such as 19 days of annual leave and paid sick leave ranging from 80% to 100%. Healthcare access is covered under a government-funded system, and the country’s happiness score stood at 5.96.

Globally, Malaysia ranked 27th out of 60 countries evaluated in the index. Singapore narrowly led Asia with a score of 57.85.

Other top global performers include New Zealand, which ranked 1st worldwide with a score of 86.87, followed by Ireland (2nd), Belgium (3rd), Germany, and Norway.

Interestingly, just last year, Malaysia was ranked as the second-worst country for work-life balance globally, placing 59th with a score of only 27.51—just ahead of Nigeria.
