A big part of our life is dedicated to working. I mean, it’s something that drives us to wake up every day and motivate us to at least lead a more meaningful life. (Okay, in all honesty, also it’s because… how else are we going to get our money to fund ourselves??)
Well, unfortunately, some people don’t see it that way and would prefer taking shortcuts – even if it means cheating other people of their hard earned money.
A fellow Malaysian known as Ken Wom took to Facebook to share his recent encounter with a man and a woman who was apparently bound in a wheelchair.
He writes,
“I was on my way back home when I had to quickly slam on my car brakes because a man suddenly appeared and was pushing a wheelchair across the street. Their items had fallen all over the road, so I exited my car to help them gather their stuff.
“The man tells me that his wife’s legs were cut off (did not specify why), he also said that he himself had undergone an operation on his stomach, and a whole lot of reasons about how kesian they are.
“He requested me to help him book an UBER back to the hotel which is Horizon Hotel (a 4 star hotel!) and said how they hadn’t shower for 5 days and really needed an airplane ticket back to Cambodia. He pleads for me to help him get those flight tickets!
“When he suddenly grabbed my hand, again, pleading for me to help him, I gave in and handed him RM50. I even booked an UBER for him.”
After that whole situation, Ken went back home. He excitedly shares with his girlfriend about the good deed that he has done but… his girlfriend only laughed in his face.
“I showed her the pictures and video I took earlier, and told her how I helped 2 strangers. She only laughed and call me sohai stupid, then took out a newspaper to show me that the man is actually a VVIP beggar!
“That’s when I found out that I got scammed.”
Netizens couldn’t help but be amused at his predicament. Of course, they also expressed their anger at the conmen who manipulated other people’s sympathy just to steal from their hard earned money.
One netizen revealed that the man is a notorious scammer and had cheated a lot of people before. He even had a lot of RM100 notes to be exchanged at a money changer.
So guys, beware of such scammers! It’s almost ironic how these ‘beggars’ are living much better lives than us who work everyday just to make ends meet!
