Traffic policemen have always been one of the least liked authoritative figures in our country considering Malaysians like driving as they wish but don’t like it when traffic policemen intervene.

But many need to understand that traffic policemen are just doing their jobs to ensure the safety of road users. In fact, sometimes they even go above and beyond their job scope to ensure Malaysian road users remain safe and sound.

The Polis Diraja Malaysia (Royal Malaysia Police) Facebook page took to their profile to showcase traffic policemen cleaning up a road riddled with rubble to help avoid potential accidents.

They wrote, “Picture of the day: a traffic officer cleaning rubble that was scattered on the road. For the sake of ensuring that the safety of road users is guaranteed, traffic policemen took the initiative to clear up the scattered rubble to avoid unwanted incidents.”

“Today we help others, maybe when we need help the most, others will lend a helping hand. The reward for helping one another is great,” they added.

Cleaning the rubble may not be within their work description or an obligation, but they’re willing to do it anyway (compared to waiting for a cleaning crew) so that those who need to use the road can do so safely without having to fear for their lives.

We should be thankful to have such caring traffic policemen keeping our roads safe.

Thank you, abang-abang traffic officers!
