The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Sandakan District Police Headquarters recently conducted a joint operation with the Sabah Department of Environment (JAS) targeting motorcycles in the city, aptly named Op Samseng Jalanan (Motosikal).

Enforcement actions were taken against several motorcycles for various offences during the operation, but one particular offence caught the attention of Malaysians: A motorcycle with an individual’s name on its plate rather than the vehicle’s registration number.

Specifically, in one of the photos shared by the Sandakan IPD BSPT on its Facebook page, the rear plate of a Yamaha motorcycle clearly didn’t adhere to the required specifications, as the owner replaced the registration number with a text reading “Siti Nabilah”.

However, the Sandakan police didn’t elaborate on the peculiar plate, so it is unknown who exactly is Siti Nabilah and her relationship with the motorcycle owner.

What was revealed though, were the enforcement actions the joint operation took against the ‘Siti Nabilah motorbike’ and other 2-wheelers found to have committed offences in the city on 23 March.

The police issued a total of 20 summonses for various offences, while JAS issued 14 notices under Section 48 of the Environment Quality Act 1974 and 9 recommended compounds under Regulation 4(2) of the same Act. JAS also inspected 17 motorcycles and conducted motorcycle noise tests.

So, what do you guys think of the rather unique and fully illegal plate number? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
