This might be the reason why there has been so many cases involving counterfeit notes in our country recently.

On Tuesday, an illegal money-printing syndicate that has been operating since last year was busted by the Selangor police after several raids were conducted. Go PDRM, GO!

According to FMT, the police have been receiving numerous reports by the public and banks regarding the fake notes. So, an investigation was covertly done to uncover the culprits who have been mass-producing these counterfeit notes.

On Tuesday, the Selangor police also scored a major goal following several raids in Klang, Shah Alam and Puchong that were conducted between 2.30am and noon, according to State Commercial Crimes Investigation Department chief ACP Wan Rukman Wan Hassan.

Besides three sets of counterfeiting equipment, the police also seized RM12,540 worth of RM20 and RM100 notes at the scene.

“They were caught red-handed printing the counterfeit notes during the raids. The suspects moved from budget hotel to budget hotel to escape detection. It is estimated that they can produce counterfeit notes worth RM10,000 a day,” Wan Rukman said.

According to Sin Chew, the suspects were using tracing paper to print out the money. And a large piece of tracing paper could produce RM6,000 worth of counterfeit notes!

“The modus operandi of this syndicate is that after they print the counterfeit notes, they will sell to agents or middlemen who use them to buy goods at night and wet markets around the Klang Valley,” he added.

The suspects arrested included four men and two women, and one of them was the mastermind behind this illegal operation. All of them are aged between 20 and 40 years old, and will be remanded until May 20th to aid in the investigations. The police is also now hot on the trails of the agents and middlemen involved.

Since the counterfeit notes have remarkable resemblance with authentic notes, the police strongly advised the public to double-check when receiving big notes as reports indicated that the fake ones are already circulating in the Klang Valley.

So guys, be sure to take a second look at the big notes you receive from others. Who knows, you might be the unlucky one!
