To all Malaysians who are still looking to cross state borders to get home during this Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), you will now have to obtain PDRM approval first, instead of applying via the Gerak Malaysia application.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said in this live broadcast today that the travel leeway from May 7 to May 10 has officially expired and that things are now ‘back to normal’.

“Now you cannot cross unless with police permission. Those doing so will face stern action,” he said during the daily press conference.

He added that those caught will be punished under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, in which perpetrators will face compounding or will be brought to court.

Police officer have already begun the implementation of roadblocks by major tolls on highways across the country to enforce the ban on state border crossing while the CMCO is still active.

He also added that those who brag on social media about sneaking through borders to return to their hometowns should show their faces on social media when bragging.

He said,

“Those who sneak through borders should show their faces when bragging online. For the previous cases, where they’ve taken selfies of themselves, please do so. The police will come after you.”

We understand that it can be difficult and saddening to not see your loved ones for long periods of time, but with everyone’s cooperation, we can all get through this CMCO.
