Let’s be honest, most (if not all) of us dread going to the Immigration Department to renew our passports for obvious reasons: there’s the trouble of finding parking, the long queues and wait time, and having to deal with crowds. Hence, we wish there was a hassle-free way to get our documents renewed.

However, did you know that you can actually renew your passport online? Yup, you heard that right! The online service was made available two years ago but many Malaysians, including us, do not know about it.

The “My Online Passport” system was launched to make it easier for the public to renew their passports as they don’t have to go through the long queues. Damn, imagine all those hours we could’ve saved!

Immigration director-general, Datuk Seri Mustafar told the Malay Mail,

“The My Online Passport system is very convenient because applicants do not have to queue at the counter to renew their passports. In fact, they can select the branch where they wish to pick their passport from as well as the mode of payment either via debit or credit card.”

Datuk Seri Mustafar continued elaborating that if an applicant living in Kuala Lumpur wants to collect the passport at the immigration counter in Johor, they can also opt for this. Wah! So convenient weh.

At the moment, the system is not being utilised so much as currently, only 9,178 passport renewal applications were made through the system. The public can apply to renew their passports online by going to https://eservices.imi.gov.my/myimms/myPassport.

So, if you don’t have much time to spare in your day and you feel lazy to wake up early in the morning to physically renew your passport, you can just apply online!

If only we knew earlier, we could’ve slept in and done so much instead of just waiting in line. Now, spread the word and let everybody know!
