In this day and age, everything is getting digitised thanks to how advanced technology is getting. You would think older folks might find it hard to keep up with these changes, but you would be dead wrong!
Apparently, there’s a ‘nasi kerabu‘ stall right here in Kelantan that gives its customers the option to pay for their food in Bitcoins! Wah, so maju!
Jijah’s NK Stall is located in Kampung Pauh, Badang and is run by Azizah Derahman.
Her stall began accepting Bitcoin transactions when her husband, 65-year-old retired army personnel, Safiin Mohamed, introduced this digital payment method after learning about it on Google.
He believes the payment system will be the way of the future, telling The Star, “If we do not keep up with future trends, we will be left behind.”
However, it seems that not a lot of customers are using this method and prefer to pay in cash. So far, only eight Bitcoin transactions have been made in two months. Safiin told the daily,
“This is because the value of Bitcoins keeps appreciating fast.” Four years ago, one Bitcoin was just RM23, but now, it’s reportedly worth RM18,701!”
“Although customers only need to pay 0.00025 in Bitcoin for a packet of ‘nasi kerabu‘ with grilled fish worth RM5, most still prefer paying cash.”
Saffin added that allowing Bitcoin transactions in stores can prevent robberies.
“One does not need to carry cash, and only needs to scan the QR code from our mobile devices to make payment. Buy, scan and leave without fear of being robbed.”
What an ambitious couple! We wish them all the best in their business ventures and keeping up with the latest trends!
