Malaysia has got quite a number of trusted supermarket brands that we often go to for grocery shopping such as Tesco, Giant, Jaya Grocer, Aeon, etc.
Though these brands are already famous and huge within the country, Malaysians now need to brace themselves for the BIGGEST urban grocery market that’s coming to Kuala Lumpur soon.
According to The Star, SP Setia Bhd in collaboration with Jaya Grocer will be unveiling the largest supermarket at the Kuala Lumpur Eco City (KLEC) Mall in the first quarter of 2018.
The supermarket, called Bangsar Market, will be located at Level 2 of the KLEC Mall, with the entire floor measuring about 5,016.7 sq m (54,000 sq ft).
SP Setia’s divisional general manager, Tony Ling, told the press during the launch of Bangsar Market,
“Inspiration for this concept comes from internationally-renowned markets like Camden Market in London and Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne.
“The further attraction of the urban grocery market will be the accessibility of Bangsar Market at KLEC with many links to transport hubs.”
Besides that, Molly Loh, Jaya Grocer’s operating officer recalled her time shopping at the wet market as a youngster. Being able to chit chat with the vendors was something she and many others used to do.
“Bangsar Market by Jaya Grocer aims to bring back the wet market ‘feel’ to modern-day retail setting.
“We would also provide only the freshest ingredients for customers and there are sections where customers will be able to watch traders preparing sushi, smoked salmon and fresh pasta.”
Aside from the quick and easy to-go meals, the supermarket will also be serving some very healthy options.
“Bangsar Market will also have fresh fruits and vegetable stations, supported by a fresh juice station and a salad bar.
“There will also be a unique durian stall that will serve the King of Fruits all year round.”
Besides all these amazing food stalls and stations, the vicinity will house a wide range of restaurants, cafes, and famous food stalls to satisfy any customer’s cravings. Can’t wait!
Giant better watch out because an actual giant is coming soon to KL.
