Is attendance at a wedding important? If the most important people are present, that’s all that matters in most cases. What happens when NONE bothered to show up?
A man in China recently held a wedding and it was definitely the one he will remember but unfortunately, for the wrong reasons. The groom’s family took advantage of a huge empty land in their kampung and set 100 tables, and expected 1,000 guests to attend the wedding. The tables had been nicely set and on the wedding day, let’s just say the tables were there to “collect the dust.”
Out of all 1,000 villagers, NONE showed up to the wedding.
Let’s not talk about food wastage first because we can’t even imagine how the newlyweds and their families felt about the absence and silence at the scene.
The relationship with the villagers
The groom’s mother admitted that no formal invitation cards were distributed and they relied on verbal “marketing.” They believed that the more they spread the news, the faster the wedding announcement got to the villagers.
However, that is not the main reason for the shocking absence. The family’s relationship with the villagers came into play.
After asking around, the groom’s mother realised that there was no one else to blame but herself, according to HK01.
“My husband and I worked outside the village for a long time and we rarely came back for the events here. Our communication with the villagers are very limited.”
The villagers believed that there was no need for them to attend the wedding, given the families’ constant absence at previous events in the village.
The food went into the trash bin and the groom’s mother couldn’t help but cry at the absence.
A wedding is 1 of the biggest highlights of one’s life, and to have your big day ended in such a note is just devastating.
