Despite clear instructions, some Malaysians chose to blatantly ignore rules and still travel interstate while some of them even were proud that they were successful.

If you think you’ve evaded roadblocks and the authorities by managing to balik kampung for Raya, don’t think you can get away scot-free.

Besides the police doing spot-checks at houses they suspect of people doing interstate travel, your job might also be at risk….

Employees who violate CMCO can be fired from their jobs

The executive director of the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan said that private-sector employees who violated the Conditional Movement Control Order can be terminated from their jobs if they do not report for work on two consecutive days.

The Star reported that for the public sector employees, Public Service Department director-general Datuk Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman reportedly said that they may face disciplinary actions (penalty or termination) if they don’t report back to work after Hari Raya.

However, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob simply asked those who travelled interstate to go back to their workplace and face the consequences.

“They have to come back or face the risk of losing their jobs because they are afraid of the compounds, but these are subject to the discretion of the police, as the roadblocks are still being held.”

So, to those who managed to travel interstate, you have two choices now. Go back to your workplace or risk losing your job. Every action has its consequences so it’s time to face the music.
