Attention, Malaysian drivers!

It’s officially March, which means you now need to have a little more cash on you if you’re planning on reloading your Touch ‘n Go cards!

As of this month, drivers passing through the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) toll to reload their cards will have to pay a new minimum amount of RM30 now, instead of RM10.

New Touch 'N Go Minimum of RM30 for SKVE Toll Starts this Month! - World Of Buzz

Yes, you heard right! 30 RINGGIT.

The General Manager of SKVE Holding’s Operations and Maintenance Division, Zainal Alam Kamaruzzaman, explained the reason for this price hike was to reduce traffic congestion in the Touch ‘n Go top-up lane.

He also mentioned that this was done in order to educate drivers to ensure that they always have enough money when they drive through this lane.

This news naturally upset Malaysians.

“What if I needed to use the toll but am only left with RM10 in my wallet?” one netizen questioned.

“Looks like everything in Malaysia is just getting more and more expensive. Syukur Malaysia masih aman?” another one wrote.

Unfortunately, this increased price won’t only affect drivers on the SKVE, as it is expected to also be implemented in more highways in the near future, although no official announcement has been made yet.

This adds to the recent price hikes that have contributed to our financial woes this year. First, RON 95 and RON 97 petrol prices increased by 20 sen earlier this year. Then, Daiso announced their price hike from RM 5.30 to RM 5.90.

Brace yourselves, gang. Looks like 2017 is the year of spending loads more cash.
