In 2015, a mysterious prince from Saudi Arabia donated RM2.6 billion to our esteemed Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Razak to support our nation’s growth. For unknown reason, the money was channelled into an account under Najib’s name.
But just yesterday, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Nazri revealed the real reason why that lump sum of money ended up in Najib’s personal account. Dum dum dum!

According to Oriental Daily, Nazri said that in the lead-up to the general election, the chairperson of a political party will have to amass funds to prepare for the election and getting huge amount of money is not an easy task.
He said:
“The first time Najib led BN in the general election, he didn’t know who to ask donations from, until he met the prince of Saudi Arabia. When the prince asked him how much he needed, he didn’t dare to answer.
“On the ground that Malaysia’s official religion is Islam, the prince decided to donate money to Najib. But he didn’t know where to deposit the money, so he opened up a personal account and deposited the money there.”
Nazri also emphasized that there’s no law broken in depositing money into Najib’s personal account.
“If the money is acquired through illegal activities or corruption, then of course it’s wrong. But since the prince of Saudi Arabia has acknowledged that the money was indeed a donation, then I think Najib didn’t break any law and he’s clean.”
After hearing Nazri’s explanation, netizens started pouring in their 2 cents and some even offered a solution for the problem.
“He’s welcome to deposit the money into my personal account anytime. I would gladly help to take the money off his hands,” a netizen said.
“If he doesn’t know how to handle the money, how can he be the finance minister of Malaysia?” another netizen commented.
