When you think about how Malaysia is dealing with the Covid-19 outbreak that has infected over 8,600 people in the country, you can’t help but feel a sense of pride that Malaysia has been recognised globally as one of the countries that has successfully flattened the curve and is well on its way to recovery.
The signs that prove this fact is that Malaysia has been recording mostly single-digit increases for the past few weeks and a 22-day streak of zero deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.
Malaysia also has a 97.78% recovery rate which is one of the best in the world and a 1.4% fatality rate. Only 0.82% of the total number of cases remain active as of 6 July.
As our country moves closer to full recovery, the Ministry of Health has predicted that there will be zero new cases by mid July!
Of course, this does not mean that things will go back to normal immediately as our Health Director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Malaysia will only be declared Covid-19 free when there are zero new cases of infection for 28 consecutive days.
However, even though Malaysia is doing really well in handling the Covid-19 crisis, we must not let our guard down as the virus is still in the community. You’ve probably heard this a million times, but we must obey the standard operating procedures set by the government at all times.
Malaysia now records 8,668 cases including 8,476 recoveries and 121 deaths at the time of writing.
The future of Malaysia is in your hands!
