The Ministry of Education (MOE) in a circular dated 24 March 2025 has announced that all students in educational institutions under the Ministry will be required to wear a Jalur Gemilang badge on their uniforms.

The directive, issued by the Director-General of Education Datuk Haji Azman bin Haji Adnan, was published on the MOE website yesterday and will be enforced starting on 21 April 2025.

According to the circular, the new directive applies to all government schools, government-aided schools, matriculation colleges and Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG). Moreover, MOE also encourages other educational institutions in the country to adopt the practice.

The circular includes a guideline on the national flag badges and how to wear them, which was approved by the Cabinet on 14 February 2025.

Azman asserted that the new initiative is in line with MOE’s role in instilling patriotism and love for our country among students and educators.

Furthermore, according to the objectives of the initiative, the badges are meant to increase the patriotic spirit, promote unity, showcase the national identity, create a sense of responsibility and discipline, a sign of respect for the country and promote a sense of pride for Malaysia.
