From an outsider’s point of view, Malaysia may look like a thriving country with gorgeous flora and fauna, and towering skyscrapers, making it a concrete jungle full of commercial opportunities.

But, only its people know the full extent of the struggles and difficulties the community members have to endure to gain stability.

The ASEAN Skyline Facebook page recently shared how Malaysia is apparently ranked 4th in the whole world for having the most skyscrapers by Skyscraper Center.

They wrote, “Malaysia leads Southeast Asia in the number of skyscrapers and holds the 4th position globally, boasting a total of 366 buildings in March 2023!”

“According to Skyscraper Center, there are 70 countries worldwide with skyscrapers, categorised by heights of 150 meters and above, 200 meters and above, and 300 meters and above. Southeast Asia contributes 7 countries to this global list.”

It is important to note that Malaysia only ranks 4th globally for the most skyscrapers by a height of 150 meters and above.

On the other hand, Malaysia ranks 5th globally for the most skyscrapers by a height of 200 meters and above, and 6th globally for the most skyscrapers by a height of 300 meters and above.

Despite this being quite an achievement for the country, many Malaysians aren’t impressed as the high number of skyscrapers have not translated to economic growth for regular folks.

Perhaps Malaysia would better enjoy skyscrapers if the cost of living wasn’t also skyrocketing at a rapid rate.
