Like people, cars “age” too. It’s only a matter of time before you fork out a large sum of money for maintenance, spare parts, and damages. To forcefully operate heavy machinery on the road will only bring danger to yourself and others.
Despite so, a Malaysian man refused to change to a new car when his current car has been more than 20 years. In a confession post shared by Facebook post Xuan Play, a Malaysian woman said that she has been asking her partner to consider changing to a brand new Perodua Axia.
“Based on his current salary, he can definitely afford to get one,” she said.
The woman said that his car has undergone lots of changes in spare parts and accessories, and admitted that she’s fearful of being in his car but it has nothing to do with embarrassment. In fact, it’s their safety she’s worried about.
“Everytime I’m in his car, I’m worried if the doors might collapse,” she described her fear.
Despite her attempts to convince him about the safety aspect, the man, unfortunately, misunderstood her suggestion and thought that she was embarrassed and “cares too much about what others think”. Her wasted efforts in making him understand broke her heart.
“Sometimes, I feel like I’m the bad girlfriend.”
“It’s all about the mindset”
Many Malaysian netizens expressed their thoughts in the comment sections, with some of them feeling baffled about the man’s mindset.
“Getting an Axia as a brand new car is considered materialistic? That’s new.”
“If you both can’t reach a middle ground for this, there is a lot more for you to worry about in the future.”
“People without the same mindset really can’t be together.”
A netizen joked and said that his refusal to change to a new car shows his loyalty.
“It’s really hard to communicate with a stubborn man.”
