According to The Star, a Malaysian doctor based in Singapore has reportedly passed away in a Singapore hospital on Thursday (2nd May), a week after he was rescued from Mount Annapurna in the Himalayas.

49-year-old Dr Chin Wui Kin was reportedly stranded on the mountain for two nights. He reached the mountain’s summit but did not make it back to the nearest camp, and was finally found in a semi-conscious state before being airlifted to a hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal on Friday (26th April).

According to Channel NewsAsia, the doctor was in critical condition, having developed severe hypothermia and frostbite on his hands and feet.

On 23rd April, Dr Chin successfully reached the top of Mount Annapurna with 30 other trekkers. However, he became separated from his group while descending the mountain. He was found two days later when a helicopter spotted him waving from an altitude of about 7,500 metres.
