Regardless of your hatred towards someone, it’s never right to wish ill upon someone, especially hoping for death to befall that person. In a way, that can be considered a threat.
In response to the plane crash at Elmina Central Park, Shah Alam yesterday (August 17), many Malaysians expressed their sadness over the sudden death of everyone onboard, including a food delivery rider who happened to be hit by the crash.
Unfortunately, a tweet by @najib_bakar_ revealed the dark side of humanity, where a netizen expressed what he wished about the plane crash.
“I thought Anwar (PM) was in the plane. It would’ve been good if he was in the plane.”
A joke that went south, or a hidden, unspoken wish? Regardless, there is no reason for you to publicly “announce” your ill intention towards anyone.
The comment went viral last night and the person who wrote the remark noticed that he was getting popular for the wrong reasons on social media, so he came up with an apology the same night.
“To those who are offended with my comment, I apologise, and thank you.”
Many netizens have since bombarded his social media account and if you look for his name on the Facebook search bar, you can see many netizens expressing their anger over the person’s insensitive remark.
“It’s like he had no directions when he was typing. Didn’t he feel sinful for wishing others like that? I hope the police get him and give him a lesson.”
“You can’t joke about this. What would others feel? Maybe he was born stupid.”
“I hope karma gets him or his family, thanks to his words.”
“Don’t joke about death.”
“And tomorrow, he’ll say that his account got hacked and he didn’t make the remark.”
The cause of the plane crash, which robbed all lives onboard has yet to be determined. Keep in mind that you have to be wise when commenting on social media. Our condolences go to the family of the crash victims at this tough time.
