Many things happened in the 70s, but one can’t forget the eclectic fashion that was part of the era. 70s style may be 50 years old, but it was so iconic that many people still remember it, and a Malaysian man is looking to bring it back.
You might have recently noticed a few videos of Malaysians dressed in 70s clothing walking the streets of KL. The one responsible for that is a Facebook page named 70s Revival.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Wankan who is the admin behind 70s Revival and the owner of a classic scrambler workshop in Klang told us that he had a meet-up with other 70s fashion enthusiasts on Saturday (August 20).
During the event, about 70 people wore clothes inspired by the 70s, including collared shirts, bell bottoms and platform shoes.
Wankan was extremely happy with the turnout and said, “during the 1st gathering, it was so fun to meet new friends, and I was also proud to showcase 70s fashion in the city.”
When asked about the inspiration behind the meet-up and Facebook page, the workshop owner told us about his parents.
“My father was a camera collector in the 70s, and his photos inspired me. Doing this enables me to replay the memories of my parents when they were in that era.”
“It has already been 16 years since my dad left this world,” he explained.
He elaborated and said that after he edited the photos and videos, he was overwhelmed with a sense of longing for his deceased parent.

On a lighter note, Wankan also said that he would like to show the other generations how 70s fashion was, and his plan for 70s Revival is to have other gatherings in the future and maybe even a 70s buy and sell event!
This is such a breath of fresh air as it allows people to express themselves and replay their old memories through clothing.
