It’s the school holidays now and students in Malaysia are enjoying their break from their daily school life. Some kids will be taking this time to catch up with their friends or activities while others will take it as an opportunity to earn more money. However, not all kids will use this free time wisely.

A Malaysian netizen recently shared about how school kids should spend their free time more productively instead of doing stupid and illegal activities such as riding “basikal lajak.” He said that he was waiting for a friend at the parking lot when two young boys approached him to promote the Touch n’ Go eWallet.
“They explained it really well to me and told me everything I needed to know. They even helped me to install the app and taught me how to use it, all free of charge. I was charmed by their persistence and immediately signed up for it. I asked them how old they were and one of them is going to Form 3 while another will be in Form 5. They told me that they earned about RM80 to RM150 a day. That’s a lot of money!”
Meanwhile, he compared these hardworking kids to others, who would waste their time doing unproductive things such as modifying their bikes into basikal lajak and then riding it on the roads, hence endangering everyone else.

He said, “People start working hard from young to earn money and get what they want while other kids will just spend all their parents’ money. Then when they are older, they will think that they are entitled to get BR1M and when they cannot get it, they will get angry.”

His post got more than 1,200 shares at the time of writing and many netizens agreed with him, saying that these hardworking traits should be taught to kids while they were young instead of hoping for handouts from other people.
