#MeToo applies to every person who has experienced sexual assault. Your gender should never disqualify your experience. Sexual violence is an issue that occurs to both women and men and it’s about time we acknowledged it.
Following the recent rise in awareness of cases of child rape and the growing debate around paedophilia, one Twitter netizen recently shared his traumatic experience of being sexually assaulted by a group of men AND a woman during his childhood.
When the victim was 11-years-old, he was held down by his 15-year-old neighbour and friends while his neighbour masturbated on his face. Once he ejaculated, he smeared the liquid all over the victim’s face.

The victim said it was supposed to be just another day on a weekend where he would go over to his neighbour’s house to play with his PS2. However, on the day of the assault, the netizen recalls that things were different.
While he was harmlessly playing with the game console, his assaulters were reportedly watching 3GP porn videos.
They then began stripping down and started pleasuring themselves. The victim admits that he didn’t care about it until it was too late.

Needless to say, the victim was scarred by the horrific assault. He never told his family and only shared the story with a few people until he decided to post about it publicly. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the last time the Twitter user encountered sexual assault.

His next assaulter was a woman. And she was just someone who sold pisang goreng on the corner of the victim’s street. The incident took place after she spilled a drink on the netizen and invited him over to her house to change.
At the time, the victim had no idea what was happening. She allegedly stripped him down and stroked his private part. It all happened too quickly for him to process what was going on.
He only had time to wear his pants as he ran back home so his mother wouldn’t notice his state of nudity. The Twitter user shared his confusion being a victim during this time as he was a boy.
A much misunderstood stigma surrounding sexual assault is that it only happens to girls. But this admirable netizen was brave enough to share his experience online so the public can understand that sexual assault happens to both boys and girls alike.
“If you didn’t know anyone else who knows your pain, just know that I understand. And I will always fight for victims such as you.”

It’s important for us to be able to talk openly about these issues to change public perception and spread awareness of how frequently assault happens among both genders. Women are capable of sexual assault, just as how men can be victims of sexual violence.
The more conscious we are about these experiences, the better we will get at taking active measures to break this stigma and prevent future assaults from happening.
