It is becoming apparent that there are still people out there who do not know that they CANNOT pump diesel into their vehicles (unless they actually WANT to destroy their car).
And while there’s been instances where people have pumped diesel into their cars without assistance from the public, thankfully for one woman, a petrol station employee saw her making this ultimate mistake and stopped her from causing major damage to her car.
Content creator, YuYu Suet Yi, took to her Facebook page to share on this incident, which took place at a petrol station she was visiting for the first time.
She wrote, “This was my first time at this petrol station. There is a large space, divided into a diesel area and a petrol area. I saw a lot of cars at the petrol area but no cars at the diesel area. Since I saw that there was a lot of space at the diesel area, I went there.”
“Here is my next point of concern, the diesel gun is relatively big and it was not fitting fully into my fuel tank. Really, it didn’t fit but I didn’t think that was a problem. I ended up pointing the nozzle into my fuel tank and pumped RM30 of diesel.”
She was just about to get into her car when she was stopped by an employee of the petrol station.
He told her not to start the engine and he proceeded to call a nearby workshop to help clear the diesel out of her tank.
“I admit that I really do not have common sense when it comes to pumping petrol. I didn’t even know that there were different coloured nozzles. When I finished and was about to get into the car, my guardian angel showed up and inquired about the situation.”
“He told me, ‘you can’t start the car anymore. I’ll call the car shop next door for help’,” she added.
She ended up avoiding a lot of damage to her car as the car repair shop managed to clean out the diesel from her tank for RM122 (RM80 for the labour and RM42 to replace 6 screws).
She went back to the petrol station after clearing her tank, to thank the employee but could not find him as he had already gone home for the day.
Though, thankfully, she went back to the petrol station again the next morning and manage to convey her thanks to him and also gave him an angpau!
“I came early today (April 8) to thank this angel-like noble man! If he hadn’t come up to me, I don’t even dare think of what the consequences would have been.”
A huge kudos to the petrol station employee for stepping in before disaster struck.
