So, you’re done with your undergraduate degree but now wish you could travel and continue your studies at the same time?
Well, we have good news for you, because the Korean Embassy in Malaysia has just announced on its Facebook page that the 2018 Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Graduate Degrees is now open for application!
This scholarship is open to students pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree, and non-degree research programs from 156 countries, including Malaysia!
If you’re selected to join this programme, you’ll be entitled to:
- A flight ticket to South Korea
- A flight ticket back to your home country upon completion of studies
- 200,000 KRW (approx. RM720) of settlement allowance (offered once)
- 900,000 KRW (approx. RM3,240) of monthly allowance for a master’s or doctorate degree
Interested to apply? Here are the requirements in order to be eligible for this scholarship.
- Nationality – applicants cannot hold a Korean citizenship.
- Age – applicants must be under 40 years old as of 1 September 2018
- Degree requirement – applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree as of 31 August 2018
- Grades – applicants must maintain a grade point average (GPA) higher than 2.64 on a 4.0 scale

You can apply through the Korean Embassy in Malaysia or via one of the selected universities in Korea. The complete guideline is available at the end of the article.
Also, you’ll have to follow a mandatory one-year Korean language program at a different city from where your university is located at, meaning you’ll get to travel and learn the different local cultures of Korea!
If you’re interested in this programme, the deadline of submission to the Korean Embassy in Malaysia is 14 March 2018. Submissions can be done by hand or post. Successful candidates will be notified for an interview between 19 March and 27 March 2018.
