To ease the burden of some people, especially the B40s, the PPR Flat (the low-income housing program) was built to cater to their needs. It may not be much but it certainly has what it takes to give them shelter.
A Malaysian TikToker, Syamimia, who also lives in 1 of the PPR flats often shares the tidbits of her life with her family on her account @syamimia. She often spends time cooking for the family, cleaning the house, and sometimes, her daily routine at home. However, some netizens started to question Syamimia’s decision to live in the flat which is targeted for low-income groups, and it raised even more questions when eagle-eyed netizens spotted a luxury and branded cookware that she uses in her kitchen.
“Is that really a flat?”
“(Living in) A flat but SMEG appliances and Kitchen Aid.”
This caused a heated debate because PPR flats are meant for low-income groups and what Syamimi has in her house does not reflect that.

“My house is not for my content, I’m just Syamimi”
Syamimi, on the other hand, is aware of the criticisms and recently, she responded to the backlash via an Instagram story. She assured everyone that none of the brands have sponsored her for any content, and everything was bought with her hard-earned money.
“I’m not high maintenance and I have never used my husband’s money.”
In the latest TikTok post last night (August 21), Syamimi decided to spill a little behind the story of how she ended up in that house. The unit was bought by her late mother who passed away months after the purchase and as a daughter, Syamimi had to ditch college and find jobs to pay up her late mother’s debts. She was only 20 when it happened, and she couldn’t support herself as much as she could now.
Before she owned the unit, she even had to convince the judge that despite her age, she would be able to settle all the bills and loans, which amounted to up to 5 figures.
Fortunately, her hard work paid off and Syamimi managed to own the house. She decided to decorate the house as a “gift” to her late mother, who loves to see nice interior designs.
