Ahh, Game of Thrones. How you’ve managed to capture the attention of a generation and create such a strong fan base is insane, no matter how you ended the ride. But does it really have to end?

Many aspects of the show will live on, considering the book series isn’t even completed yet and a prequel show is already in the making. There are many ways the show’s legacy lingers with us, and one of the ways we can expect GoT to remain in our cultural consciousness is the show’s goosebump-inducing music.

One way die-hard fans can commemorate the show’s phenomenal soundtrack is to cover its music, and this Malaysian production agency did just that, but with a twist!

Mahakarya Studios Malaysia, a local theatrical production house, brought together traditional Malaysian instrumentalists to perform a mash-up cover of Ramin Djawadi’s original compositions for the show in a 4 minutes 52 seconds video.

Starting off with the House Greyjoy and House Stark theme songs, they then transition into the Game of Thrones’ opening credits theme song.

The distinctive traditional Malay instruments take the song’s medieval vibes to an elevated level, giving it a Malaysian twist that stands out from other covers we’ve heard.

The group has since received fan requests to cover other infamous theme songs including the Avengers theme and the Skyrim theme.

Kudos for putting a well-deserved spotlight on Malaysian traditional instruments and for your creativity!
