Following the tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students, all eyes have been on the authorities as to what they’ll do to prevent such accidents from happening again in the future.

One netizen, Somat Yatie, took to his Facebook page to showcase the road in Gerik, Perak, where the accident took place.

He wrote, “The Gerik road where the bus crashed, killing 15 lives.”

Malaysians noticed a change in the road

However, Malaysians were quick to point out how the authorities had suddenly painted double lines on the road, which indicates that vehicles are not allowed to overtake in this area, following the accident. This led many to question why the move was only done after lives were lost.

“It’s so expensive to paint on those white lines, 15 people needed to sacrifice their lives for them to do it.”

“This is like ‘haram’ work. Only after a horrible accident are they painting on the lines. What is happening to the authorities in Malaysia?”

“A week before Hari Raya, I went back to my hometown and there were no lines. Now, they’ve quickly painted on lines.”

“Only now are they painting on the white lines. Only after people died are they doing it.”
