Hear ye, hear ye! If you’re planning to travel in or out of Malaysia with this particular airline this year (2018), we have some good news!

That’s because, Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific will be waiving ticket rebooking/rerouting charges for Malaysians due to the upcoming GE14, reported NST. Yay!

Moreover, this special waive is applicable to ALL fare types if the travel date of fellow Malaysians falls on the election date.

Besides that, according to its website, the airline will be waiving rebooking/rerouting charges for all Cathay Pacific as well as its sister airline, Cathay Dragon, tickets that are issued in Malaysia.

However, there are certain terms and conditions to adhere to in order to be eligible for the waiver:

  • The waiver is only applicable for Malaysian citizens
  • If the election date falls within the passenger’s inbound or outbound travel date, one (1) change is permitted for all tickets, including those with restrictions on date change. One change per ticket!
  • Flight ticket change must be done within seven days from the announcement of GE14
  • Passengers are allowed to delay their travel dates up to two months from the original date of travel
  • This waiver is not applicable to fare or tax difference(s) should the new date fall into higher subclass or seasonality
  • All fare subclass and seasonality surcharges apply as per purchased flight ticket fare rules. The waiver is only for the rebooking/rerouting charges.

So, if your travel dates fall on the day of the general election and you’ve already purchased a ticket from Cathay Pacific, then you might want to utilise this opportunity to get the rebooking/rerouting charges waived to save an extra buck!

Happy travels, y’all!
