Back in August of last year (2023), former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin felt freedom as his 4 abuse of power charges were squashed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Now, it appears that things have changed!

According to a report by Harian Metro, the Court of Appeal has ordered for Muhyiddin’s case of misuse of position to obtain bribes amounting to RM232.5 million for Parti Bersatu, related to the Jana Wibawa Project that he was involved in, to be returned to the Sessions Court for further action.

A 3-judge panel chaired by Datuk Hadhariah Syed Ismail made the decision after allowing the prosecutor’s application as the appellant to set aside the High Court’s decision which released and acquitted the Bersatu President of the 4 charges last year.

The other 2 judges consisted of Judges Datuk Azmi Ariffin and Datuk S.M. Komathy Suppiah.

All offenses were committed at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya from March 1, 2020, to August 20, 2021.

Therefore, Muhyiddin was charged under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine.
